Oakhurst Country Club Wedding Photos: Katie & Kevin

bride and groom walk through pine tree forest in sweet light magic hour at Oakhurst Country Club wedding photos

While I’m based in Chicago, I end traveling out of state for around half of my weddings each year. It’s always great to shoot at new locations so I was very excited when Katie & Kevin asked me to shoot their Oakhurst Country Club wedding photos in Clarkston, Michigan. Once again Denver’s best wedding photographer, Justin Edmonds, flew in to second shoot with me. Both Katie and Kevin got ready at a hotel just down the road in Auburn Hills, …

The Rookery Wedding Photos: Nicole & John

bride and groom pose for The Rookery stairs wedding photos before their wedding ceremony

At this point I’ve photographed weddings at most of the most popular venues in Chicago, but The Rookery wedding photos have been on my list for a while. So I was thrilled when Nicole & John asked me to document their wedding at The Rookery Building. My friend and Denver Wedding photographer, Justin Edmonds, was in town again to help me with the coverage. I started with Nicole and the ladies and Justin was with John and the guys at …

Rock Climbing Engagement Photos in West Loop Chicago: Kelly & Elliott

couple laughs together during West Loop engagement session on the top of Madison at Racine building roof deck

My advice for engagement session locations is always to pick places that are meaningful to them. Kelly & Elliott did just that with their rock climbing engagement photos in the West Loop. We were able to get three different locations and a lot of variety without leaving their neighborhood. We started the shoot with a walk through Union Park with their pup. For a relatively small park, Union Park offered some great shooting options. After the park we headed to …

Colorful Engagement Photos in Royal Oak Michigan: Erica & Cody

colorful engagement photos with couple posing in parking garage at night in downtown Royal Oak, Michigan

In a first for me, I brought a second shooter to an engagement session. Normally that would be overkill, but when it’s your brother and sister-in-law to-be I figured why not! Justin and I were scheduled to be in Michigan shooting a wedding already and since he’ll be shooting their wedding next spring we decided to schedule Erica and Cody’s engagement photos in Royal Oak. The session ended up producing a set of the most colorful engagement photos I could …

Golden Colorado Lookout Mountain Wedding Photos: Diana & Todd

Lookout Mountain wedding photos with bride and groom posing for a photo on bride over I-70 near buffalo park overlook with the rocky mountain range in the background

After Illinois, I’ve probably shot more Colorado weddings than any other state. That’s mostly because I regularly second shoot for my friend, Denver Wedding photographer, Justin Edmonds. I was thrilled to document Diana and Todd’s wedding in Golden, Co. and their reception at their home on Lookout Mountain. I started with Diana while she got ready in downtown Golden. Anya started with Todd and the guys at their home. Todd met Diana downtown for a first look before the ceremony. …

North Avenue Beach Engagement Photos: Amy & Robert

North Avenue beach engagement photos with a bride-to-be smiling during their night time engagement session with the Chicago skyline in the background

I met up with Amy & Robert in their Lincoln Park neighborhood at Other Side Bar before our engagement session. As I’ve said, I always like to meet up for drinks before we start shooting. It’s a great way to catch up on the wedding plans and relax before we head out. From there it was a quick walk down Fullerton Avenue toward Lincoln Park. Our first stop was a new one for me – the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool. …
