Crystal and David were married at City View Loft in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood. I’m always a fan of brick and timber spaces so I was excited to shoot in City View Loft’s new space.
Both Crystal and David got ready at their home near the venue – the two-flat design was perfect with separate floors for each. I started with Crystal and the ladies upstairs. While I was looking for unique angles from the second-story loft, Candice was downstairs with David and the guys.
At this point most couples opt for a first look, but I always let couples plan what works best for them. Crystal and David didn’t see each other until she walked down the aisle and it made for a really great moment. The man that introduced Crystal to David officiated and shared some good background and how he played matchmaker.
After the ceremony we headed outside for portraits while the guests enjoyed cocktail hour. We packed a lot into that time including two sets of family photos and a trip home to change outfits. When we got back to venue we had just enough light in the sky to make one more set of portraits with Crystal and David. Then it was back inside for the reception.
Crystal and David entered like rock stars, seriously. Then their fathers each said a few words before Crystal’s brother and the best man each made toasts. The couple thanked their guests then David pulled out his guitar and performed a song for Crystal.
After dinner it was time for the first dances. Once the dance floor opened up the party really started. I think David being picked up by his friends was one of the highlights of the night!
Thank you Crystal and David for letting us document your day and for smiling through it all. Justin and I had a great time working with you and your families!
