Kim and Avram were married at St. Joseph Church in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood with a reception at Hard Rock Hotel. We actually started and finished at the Hard Rock. I met Kim and the ladies in their suite for hair and makeup. Meanwhile, Justin documented Avram’s morning with the guys.
Kim & Avram opted to not see each other before the ceremony, so I’m sure when Avram saw Kim walk down the aisle it was even more special. I loved the emotion on their faces at that moment. As a newspaper photojournalist, I learned that it’s important to tell the story with both the action and reaction photos. That’s one of the best reasons for having a second photographer. St. Joseph’s doesn’t allow photographers in the balcony during the ceremony so we mounted a remote camera for a great overall view of the church.
After the ceremony we headed out to Adler Planetarium for some portraits with the wedding party. Then we dropped off the wedding party and went for a stroll (actually it was a little faster-paced..) along the Chicago Riverwalk. It was perfect timing for some beautiful golden hour light.
We headed back to Hard Rock Hotel for the reception just in time for the entrance. There were some really nice toasts during dinner and very sweet first dances between Kim & Avram and their parents. The dance floor was packed all night (it was the Hard Rock afterall!) and things looked great with the dark backgrounds. As a final highlight, Avram and a few of his buddies pulled Kim out to the dance floor for a little serenade.
Justin and I had a great time working with you both, Kim and Avram. Thank you for trusting us to tell your wedding story!
