I’ve shot engagement sessions at night all over Chicago but somehow I hadn’t shot Buckingham Fountain engagement photos with the fountain lights on until now.

Originally, we planned to start Carna & Don’s engagement session on the South side at Osaka Garden, but the weather had other ideas. We were walking out to the garden when the rain clouds rolled in. I was thankful for the shelter we found on the steps at The Museum of Science and Industry. We were able to make a few pictures there before heading up to Adler Planetarium. The skyline view from Adler never disappoints. After an outfit change, we spent a little more time shooting at Adler. From there, we headed back toward Buckingham Fountain.

My first photo editor was fond of saying “Bad weather makes good pictures.” It’s definitely true. The rain left us with a beautiful purple and pink twilight sky as we arrived at the fountain. Between the sky and the fountain we had all the colors!

Carna & Don – Thanks for a great evening and not letting the rain deter us. Looking forward to seeing you both in September!
