I first met Jillian & Jake five years ago when I photographed Jillian’s sister Celina’s wedding. As I’ve mentioned, the worst part of being a wedding photographer (apart from the long hours of editing..) is that I usually don’t get a chance to see my favorite clients much. So I was very excited when Jillian emailed me about her wedding.
Both Jillian and Jake got ready downtown at The Drake Hotel. It’s a gorgeous, historic hotel with great window light. Definitely in my top ten getting ready locations in Chicago. I started with Jillian and the ladies and my friend Will Nunnally, started with Jake and the guys.
Once everyone was ready we headed downstairs and found a quiet little spot for a first look. Jake’s reaction was awesome, and made for some of my favorite photos of the entire day. We were able to shoot a few quick portraits in the park across the street with The Drake Hotel in the background before departing for the ceremony.
After a fun limo ride it was time for Crystal Tree Country Club wedding photos. We had just enough time for the formal family photos and a few quick portraits before guests started to arrive. The view behind the wedding party from the top of the hill was pretty great. Outdoor ceremonies can be tricky but we got a beautiful day for it.
When the ceremony was over, it was a short walk to the clubhouse for the reception. Jillian & Jake were introduced and went straight into their first dance. After dinner and toasts, the light was perfect so we stole Jillian and Jake for a few more portraits before the dance floor opened up. What a dance party!
Jillian & Jake – It’s been amazing working with you and your entire family! Thanks so much for trusting me to tell your wedding story!
