After Illinois, I’ve probably shot more Colorado weddings than any other state. That’s mostly because I regularly second shoot for my friend, Denver Wedding photographer, Justin Edmonds. I was thrilled to document Diana and Todd’s wedding in Golden, Co. and their reception at their home on Lookout Mountain.
I started with Diana while she got ready in downtown Golden. Anya started with Todd and the guys at their home. Todd met Diana downtown for a first look before the ceremony. It was a really sweet moment with great reactions on both of their parts.
After the formal family group portraits we headed inside Calvary Episcopal Church, which provided a beautiful venue for the ceremony. After the ceremony, the couple walked down the stairs to their friends and family blowing bubbles at them.
From there it was time for one of several Lithuanian traditions which meant traveling to several bridges along the route to the reception. The bridge over I-70 near the Buffalo Herd Overlook provided a stunning view of the snow-capped Rocky Mountains in the background – definitely a change from my familiar Chicago skyline.
When we arrived back to Diana & Todd’s home on the mountain they were greeted by an accordion and friends and family for another Lithuanian wedding tradition with woven sashes. From there it was time for dinner and toasts. The toasts took on a very organic feel with many people sharing stories, often from where they were seated. And while I couldn’t always understand (the Lithuanian) toasts, they were definitely heartfelt and still beautiful.
Diana & Todd were flexible with the timing after dinner to make sure we got some beautiful sunset Lookout Mountain wedding photos. The view from anywhere on their property is pretty awesome, but we climbed up to the roof for a truly stunning sight. I think I made photos in almost every direction!
Dancing kicked just as the sun went over the mountains and couldn’t have been more perfectly timed with the light. At the end of the night Diana & Todd left to a sparkler exit. It was a perfect end to a truly unique wedding.
Anya and I loved working with you and your family. Thanks for inviting us into your home and trusting us to make your Lookout Mountain wedding photos great!
