It’s always great to get back to Michigan and see familiar faces. Christina & Cody’s Grand Rapids wedding at Eberhard Center was no exception. Christina and her family might be the nicest people I’ve ever met, so I knew it was going to be a great day.
I met Christina and her bridesmaids at the Courtyard Marriott in downtown Grand Rapids. The ladies were all laughs and a blast to spend the morning with.
My second photographer Justin Edmonds was with the groom, Cody, and his guys at the couple’s home. It was a tight space, but Justin made it work.
When the ladies were dressed and ready we walked from the hotel across the iconic Blue Bridge toward the venue. Cody and Justin were waiting for us on the other side for a first look along the river. After first look we had just enough of a gap in the rain to get some portraits outside before heading into the Grand Rapids Public Art Museum.
The ceremony was inside GVSU’s Eberhard Center against an exposed brick wall. Christina and Cody each shared a story during their vows and Christina’s story about a trip to Home Depot was one of the best things I’ve heard at a wedding this year. I especially loved Christina and Cody high-fiving everyone on the way back down the aisle.
After the family group portraits the wedding party stopped at The Knickerbocker for a drink before heading back to the reception. Christina & Cody had a hilarious choreographed dance for their introduction and Becca’s story during her toast had everyone laughing again.
Once dinner (and Donuts!) were finished it was dancing time. Cody shared a dance with his mom and Christina split a dance with her dad and her mom before they danced together. Christina and Cody – thanks for such an awesome day and trusting us to tell your wedding story. Can’t wait to shoot more Grand Rapids Blue Bridge Wedding Photos!
