Amy & Rob’s wedding at Chicago Marriott Lincolnshire Resort was officially my first New Year’s Eve wedding and what a great way to cap my 2017 wedding season. There were so many great moments during the day, from the bridesmaid reactions to Amy in her dress, to flower granny and even a few surprise musical performances.
I started with Amy at her family home in Norwood Park where the ladies were stationed. They were a blast all morning, I’m not sure I’ve seen a group have as much fun while getting ready at Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza River North. My friend Lauren was with Rob and the groomsmen at his family’s home in Park Ridge.
The ceremony was just down the street at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Getting married on a Sunday in a Catholic church can sometimes be a tough ask, but Amy’s parents were actually married in the church so they made it happen. Amy grandmother served as the “flower granny” and had more fun tossing the pedals than any flower girl I’ve seen!
After the ceremony, we made a couple of portraits inside with the stained glass then we headed outside. With temps right around zero, we didn’t have long but we caught some nice sunset light. Then we boarded the bus to the reception, with one stop first at Friendship Park in Wheeling for a wedding party photo and a few more portraits with the Christmas lights.
At the Chicago Marriott Lincolnshire Resort reception things kicked off with a quick speech by Amy’s father, and the best man and maid of honor toasts. We also were treated to a couple of musical surprises with a performance by Amy’s cousins and a Rob’s family singing the traditional Polish celebration, Sto lat. After dinner it was on to the dances, starting with Amy and Rob’s first dance and the parent dances. Then the dance floor opened up and we had a pretty awesome party – I mean, it’s a New Year’s Eve wedding, of course it’s a party!
Shout out to Amy’s brother Robert who handled AV and music for the evening, I loved the uplighting!
