The last year and a half have been hard on everyone, but as spring started to blossom it’s looking like there’s light at the end of the tunnel thanks to the Covid vaccine. It was great to finally get back out and start shooting. Jill & Jacob were so fun to work with that it made me remember how lucky I am to be able to call this my career.
We started our afternoon at one of their local restaurant favorites – Funkehausen in the West Town neighborhood. The owner actually let us in early before customers so we had the place to ourselves. Justin was in town to help out with a wedding that weekend so we had the rare chance to tag team an engagement session.
From there we headed toward downtown and Wolf Point near Gibson’s Italia. I’ve shot in that area a few times, but it’s been on my list of places I want to shoot at more. We were able to find some new spots in the area. I especially loved the blossoming tulips with the green line El train in the background.
After that it was a short walk to Kinzie Street bridge so we stopped there briefly before coming back to the car for an outfit change and driving over to North Avenue Beach. It’s always fun to see what kind of sunset we’ll get for engagement sessions at North Ave. Beach. The orange glow from sunset was magical!
Thanks again to Jill & Jacob for helping me kick off 2021 right and I’m already looking forward to their fall wedding!
