Grace and Ben were married at The Grove Redfield Estate in Glenview outside of Chicago.
I started the morning in downtown Chicago with Grace and the bridesmaids at Hilton Mag Mile where they were getting ready. After hair and makeup we traveled out to Glenview to finish getting ready. Grace wore a really unique colorful dress that totally fit the couple’s vibe.
Sarah spent the morning with Ben and the guys. I loved Ben showing off the bird socks during their first look. Speaking of birds – I think this was the first ceremony I’ve had to feature them. Cocoa and Rico (the ‘flower bird’ and ‘wing bearer’) came down the aisle in their cages and the guests loved it. When Grace came down the aisle, Ben had to wipe away a tear.
The couples friends officiated and did the readings for the ceremony which made for some great stories and moments. After the ceremony we spent a little time on the grounds at The Grove Redfield Estate taking portraits with the family, wedding party and the couple before heading back into the city.
While things were getting set up for the reception, Grace and Ben had a little more portrait time. We started with a walk at Fullerton Ave. Beach so we could get a little of the classic Chicago Skyline view. We had just enough time left over to make a quick stop at the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool before we needed to get to the reception.
The reception kicked off with a thank you toast by the couple that was one of the most genuine and sweet things I’ve seen this year. From there, they headed straight to the dance floor for their first dance. Then it was time for dinner and toasts from both parents and wedding party. StyleMatters DJs kept the party going on the dance floor.
Thanks again to Grace and Ben for bringing us along and letting us document your awesome day – we loved working with you!
