Jill and Jacob were married at Loft Lucia in a rooftop ceremony in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood. Justin and I had been eagerly anticipating working with Jill & Jacob since their engagement session earlier in the year.
The morning started at the beautiful Publishing House Bed & Breakfast. If you’re looking for a space to get ready on a wedding day in the West Loop, I can highly recommend it! The top floor has great light and tons of space. In fact Jill and her bridesmaids had two large rooms for hair and makeup and Jacob was able to stay on the other side in a room with the guys. There’s even a clawfoot bathtub for some extra fun!
After Jill was in her dress we did a reveal with her bridesmaids on the staircase, then came back upstairs for a first look with Jacob. Before we left the space we spent some time making a few more portraits on the staircase and a cute little window nook area.
From there it was an easy walk up to Lake Street with the wedding party for portraits. We started under the El tracks and then made our way over to Green Street Smoked Meats, which is always a great spot. Finally we finished down at Mary Bartelme Park then walked to Loft Lucia. It’s always nice when everything is walkable and we aren’t relying on transportation.
Loft Lucia is one of the rare Chicago spaces with an outdoor ceremony location – and the rooftop does not disappoint. We got a beautiful fall day and golden light as the sun went down. The couples friend, Em, did a great job officiating.
After the ceremony we used the last of the remaining light to shoot family group portraits and even had a little time for some bonus portraits with Jill & Jacob on the roof during “blue hour.” The reception space downstairs is quintessential Chicago loft and looked awesome for toasts and first dances. Dan, of Faithful Anchor provided DJ services and kept the party going all night. We capped off the night with an impromptu Hora as Jill & Jacob were lifted up on chairs by their friends.
It was a perfect end to the night. I loved everything about this wedding – the season, the couple, the venue. We even got to work with one of our favorite vendors, Lauren of Naturally Yours Events.
Thank you so much Jill and Jacob for letting us document your day. We had an incredible time working with you and your families and hope to see down the road again!
