Amy and Matt were married at one of Chicago’s most elegant glass atrium downtown venues – The Exchange Building.
Amy & Matt are friends with Susan & Blake (who I first photographed almost a decade ago!) so I was very excited when they reached out about their wedding.
I started the morning with Amy and the ladies at the JW Marriott in the loop. Justin was with the guys at the hotel as well.
Our first look location was just around the corner on LaSalle Ave. which worked perfectly to transition into portraits near the Board of Trade building. This is definitely one of the most popular portrait locations in the city for a good reason. Thankfully, we were able to share the space with a few other wedding parties before going to the Art Institute Gardens.
After outdoor portraits we walked across the street to The Exchange. For anyone who knows the Rookery, this will definitely give you a similar vibe. The glass atrium and staircase make for a perfect, elegant ceremony location.
Following the ceremony, there’s a beautiful cocktail space for guests to enjoy while the room flip happens. Amy & Matt had a vision for a specific photo of their reception entrance down the staircase so we were happy to shoot it in the most epic way showing their guests and the space.
The reception kicked off with some great toasts and first dances. We managed to time it perfectly so we made a photo down Michigan Ave. during twilight!
It’s always great seeing familiar faces on a wedding day – and Amy & Matt made our jobs easy and fun. Thank you for trusting us to document your wedding and making our first trip to The Exchange a memorable one!
