North Ave. Beach, located on the shores of Lake Michigan in the Lincoln Park Neighborhood, is one of Chicago’s most popular destinations for engagement photos and wedding portraits.
With an iconic postcard view of the Chicago skyline it’s the perfect place to finish as the building lights come on during the twilight “blue hour.” In addition to the classic skyline shots, you can take a walk along the concrete pier or the sandy beaches.
North Ave. Beach is also located conveniently next to Lincoln Park, so it pairs well as a second location if you want to start with a little more nature.
In the summertime, boathouse-themed Castaways Bar and Grill is a perfect spot to get a drink and has restroom facilities for changing outfits.
If you’re feeling especially ambitious, North Ave. Beach is one of the best places in the city for a “sunrise session,” thanks to its lakeshore location and unobstructed view of the eastward skies.

WHY WE LOVE IT
There's no shortage of great places to view Chicago's skyline, but for me the view from North Ave. never gets old. It's a regular stop for me on bike rides on the Lakeshore Trail and I still find myself saying "I can't believe I live here."
I have a soft spot for North Ave. Beach as it's actually where I proposed to my wife and where we went for our own wedding portraits.
