real wedding photojournalism
Photojournalism is more than the latest trend in wedding photography. I spent the first six years of my career as a staff photojournalist for daily newspapers, so I’m trained to anticipate and capture events as they unfold.
My goal is to tell the story of your day, from the morning preparations through the dance party. That means I’ll have my eyes open for your details, because they’re an important part of the story. And we’ll get all the formal family groups, because I think everyone should have timeless family portraits. But as a photojournalist, my real passion is for moments. I love documenting all the emotions of the day – the joy, the laughter and even the tears.
Regardless of what kind of celebration you’re planning, I love working with couples that trust me and my approach. The most successful weddings I’ve photographed are memorable, not because of the venue or the details, but because I connected with my clients, and they trusted my vision.
get to know your third wheel
I live in Chicago’s Lincoln Square neighborhood with my wife, Jacqueline, and our rescue pup, Bella, (who is the subject of most of my non-wedding photography). The three of us love going on adventures.
I’m a graduate of Michigan State University, and I still point to the back of my hand to show people where I grew up.
I wait in line for Apple products and Bourbon County Stout. I’m a sucker for grande mochas and avocado sushi rolls. I geek out about typography and urban planning, and I stay inspired with episodes of This American Life and The Wire. Lately, I’ve been playing competitive badminton (think Olympic sport, not backyard game).
