real wedding photojournalism

chicago wedding photographers

Wasabi Photography is consistently ranked among the best Chicago wedding photographers specializing in real wedding photojournalism.

Photojournalism is more than the latest trend in wedding photography. I spent the first six years of my career as a staff photojournalist for daily newspapers, so I’m trained to anticipate and capture events as they unfold.

My goal is to tell the story of your day, from the morning preparations through the dance party. That means I’ll have my eyes open for your details, because they’re an important part of the story. And we’ll get all the formal family groups, because I think everyone should have timeless family portraits. But as a photojournalist, my real passion is for moments. I love documenting all the emotions of the day – the joy, the laughter and even the tears.

Regardless of what kind of celebration you’re planning, I love working with couples that trust me and my approach. The most successful weddings I’ve photographed are memorable, not because of the venue or the details, but because I connected with my clients, and they trusted my vision.

about travis

I live in Chicago’s Lincoln Square neighborhood with my wife, Jacqueline, and our rescue pup, Bella, (who is the subject of most of my non-wedding photography). The three of us love going on adventures.

I’m a graduate of Michigan State University, and I still point to the back of my hand to show people where I grew up.

I wait in line for Apple products and Bourbon County Stout. I’m a sucker for grande mochas and avocado sushi rolls. I geek out about typography and urban planning, and I stay inspired with episodes of This American Life and The Wire. Lately, I’ve been playing competitive badminton (think Olympic sport, not backyard game).

I met up with Haley and Sarah downtown at Cindy's Rooftop for a drink before starting their engagement session. I'd been waiting to get to Maggie Daley Park and with the fall leaves changing, this was the perfect time. We started with a walk through park and found...

Northern Michigan Winter Engagement Photos: Melissa & Dirk

I drove up to Northern Michigan (Glen Arbor, specifically) earlier this month to meet Melissa and Dirk. The little town of Glen Arbor is right on Lake Michigan's Sleeping Bear Bay near the sand dunes. I'm so glad we rescheduled because the weather was perfect, or at...
