I drove up to Northern Michigan (Glen Arbor, specifically) earlier this month to meet Melissa and Dirk. The little town of Glen Arbor is right on Lake Michigan’s Sleeping Bear Bay near the sand dunes. I’m so glad we rescheduled because the weather was perfect, or at least perfect for Michigan Winter Engagement session. We had a good amount of snow on the ground and it was warm enough that we could be outside for long enough to get some great stuff. Oh, and how amazing was the light!
We started the day with a coffee at Leelanau Coffee Roasting Company and figuring out our plan of attack. Melissa and Dirk’s dog Piper and their friend Kerri met us there and we headed down the street to the beach – I know the beach in the winter! Sleeping Bear Bay offered some great views of Lake Michigan.
Then we drove back through town and found a spot along a windy little river that Melissa and Dirk scouted earlier. From there we found a couple more spots in downtown Glen Arbor and a stopped for an outfit change. We jumped back in the car for one more short trip to Glen Haven where we found an old Cannery that’s a Museum.
We finished at the Sleeping Bear Point trailhead as the sun was setting behind the pine trees. Special thanks to Kerri for stepping doing a great job holding my light in addition to being dog handler all day!
Can’t wait to head back to Northern Michigan for your Crystal Mountain wedding in May!
