Cassie and Matt were married at Stan Mansion in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. They were one of my first couples from 2020 to have their wedding plans upended by the Coronovirus Pandemic. I’ve been very thankful for couples like Cassie & Matt with their graciousness and flexibility while working through constantly changing plans.
I spent the morning with Cassie and her bridesmaids in the beautiful bridal suite on the top floor of the historic mansion. The large, open space and skylights make it a great space to get ready. My good friend Allison Williams was along to shoot with me and started with Matt and the guys at The Robey Hotel.
We had not one, but two first looks. Matt’s best man surprised him with a full wedding dress and flower crown ensemble. After a few laughs we moved to the real first look with Cassie and some portrait time around the mansion grounds. For a small yard, there were several good spots – I especially liked the brick and metal staircase.
From there, we headed back inside to cool off briefly and then it was time for family and group photos. The ceremony was officiated by Cassie’s brother-in-law. He did a fantastic job and joked that he did have a little practice since he technically married the couple on their original April 2020 wedding date. I loved Cassie pounding the nail into their anniversary wine box using her dad’s old hammer.
The reception space at Stan Mansion is the real star of the show. With towering ceilings and a beautiful twinkle light background it felt like a space worthy of the celebration they were waiting for! The dance floor was so much fun – with a special performance by Cassie and her sister, and Matt showing off his “moves like Jagger.”
Cassie and Matt – thank you so much for working with us and letting us document your wedding celebration!
