Kim and Gordon were married at St. Michael Old Town in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood.
I started the morning with Kim and her bridesmaids getting ready at the W Hotel – Lakeshore. The view overlooking lake Michigan, Olive Park and Navy Pier is spectacular and the large windows let in great natural light. Justin started with Gordon in the hotel as well. The smaller wedding party size is something that always makes the day a little less stressful and it was a nice chill morning for the preparations.
We walked a few blocks north on Lakeshore Drive to a first look with some beautiful spring flowers in the background. After first look we headed north to St. Michael church in Old Town for the ceremony. St. Michael Old Town is one of the most historic Catholic churches in the city. It was one of just seven structures to survive the Chicago Fire of 1871. With the massive brick and stone walls, it’s easy to see why it’s a popular wedding destination.
After the ceremony, we headed to Milton Lee Olive Park for portraits. It was at bit chilly, but Kim & Gordon powered through and it was totally worth it! From there it was a quick trip under Lakeshore Drive over to Pinstripes Chicago for a cocktail reception. Friends and family shared some moving toasts and kind words about Kim and Gordon. We capped off the evening watching fireworks over Navy Pier as it started to rain.
Thanks again Kim and Gordon for for letting us document your day and being wonderful to work with!
