Caitlin and Matt’s Willow Harbor Vineyards wedding in Three Oaks, Mich. came at the end of an eight-week stretch where I shot eight weddings in four states. Couples like Caitlin and Matt and their families remind me why I love doing this every weekend!
I met Caitlin and her bridesmaids at Spa Blu salon at the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City, Ind. From there we traveled to her family’s home to put on the dress. While I was hanging out with the ladies, Justin was at Matt’s aunt & uncle’s farm in Sawyer, Mich. The guys spent the morning fishing and riding ATVs around the property. Justin mounted a remote camera to the inside of the ATV for a unique perspective to the action.
We met at the family farm for the first look. A beautiful red barn provided a perfect setting and many additional portrait opportunities. After we wrapped up at the farm, we bussed over to Willow Harbor Vineyards for the wedding.
The ceremony was filled with love and laughter. It’s hard to beat an outdoor wedding under such blue skies. After the ceremony we had time for a few family groups and the full wedding party photo in front of the big white barn. As cocktail hour continued, we stole away with Caitlin and Matt for a few more portraits in the actual vineyards. Caitlin and Matt didn’t even complain about battling the mosquitos for the best shot. The shot of Caitlin and Matt walking down between the grape vines was shot with a camera on a monopod about 12 feet in the air.
The reception kicked off with Caitlin and Matt’s first dance under the tent. Toasts followed during the dinner service. I have to say, after seeing hundreds of toasts, best man Michael’s was the best I’ve heard. My usual advice for toasts is 1) tell a story, 2) be funny and sincere and 3) remember to take your glass! Great job, Michael!
After dinner, Caitlin and Matt opened the dance floor with parent dances. I always love the energy of a live band performing and the guests definitely responded. I can only hope I’m as active as Caitlin’s grandmother at her age, she was amazing!
Caitlin and Matt, it was such a pleasure working with you both, thanks again for being so great. I know you both have big families so I’m hoping to see you at a siblings wedding soon!
