I’ve been waiting for a chance to shoot Northerly Island engagement photos, so I was excited when Chelsea and Kevin wanted to do their engagement on museum campus. The two locations are right next to each other but offer totally different photo opportunities. With its rocks, tall grasses and other natural areas Northerly Island hardly feels like Chicago at all, and with just a short walk you have the most iconic skyline view in the city.
We actually started our session with a little walk around their Wicker Park neighborhood which had some great murals and tree lined streets. After a quick cool down inside we drove down to Northerly Island where we met Lauren, who will also be shooting their wedding with me later this month!
It was fun exploring a new Chicago location for engagement photos, since I feel like I’ve shot almost everywhere at this point. We did a full lap of the island before walking back toward Adler and museum campus. After an outfit change the building lights were starting to come on. Chelsea’s long dress looked great as Kevin picked her up and spun her around with the skyline in the background
Finally, we finished off the night with cocktails and a couple more photos on top of LondonHouse’s rooftop bar. It was incredibly crowded for a weekday evening, but we managed to find a few places along the edge with a view. Lauren and I had a great time hanging out with you both and can’t wait for your Lyric Opera House wedding!
