Neha & Sachin held their wedding ceremony at Glessner House on Chicago’s south side. I started the morning with Neha as she finished her preparations. I enjoy shooting Indian weddings for many reasons, but I especially love all the details and color. So much color!
Will Nunnally shot alongside me for the day and met me at Glessner House for the baraat. Sachin and his friends and family made their way up the street while dancing and celebrating. It’s always great to start the day with dancing!
Indian wedding ceremonies are a bit like Catholic ceremonies in that, we as photographers, have plenty of time to move around and shoot lots of different kinds of pictures.
After the ceremony, we had a few minutes for a quick portrait session before Neha & Sachin headed to the hotel to change clothes and get ready for the reception. I joined them in the hotel, before we left for the Chez wedding reception.
Chez is an awesome new wedding venue that reminds me of an Apple Store. It’s a beautiful white space with an epic glass staircase and aluminum accents. I’m always amazed how uplighting can totally transform a space.
At Chez, Neha & Sachin’s friends took turns on the microphone for many toasts. Then Neha & Sachin had their first dance before opening the dance floor to everyone. What a great day, thanks for letting us document it!
