Allison and Bret were married in a Star Wars themed wedding at Adler Planetarium on Chicago’s Museum Campus.
Allison and Bret’s wedding weekend was the busiest hotel weekend in Chicago history thanks to a large medical conference and a trio of Taylor Swift concerts. With that in mind, the couple had rooms at Sonder Apartments which is where Justin and I started. Allison had a sweet first look with her father before we walked down the street for a first look with Bret.
After first look we started toward the venue, with a stop at the Formal Gardens in Grant Park for family group photos before a small walking tour of museum campus with just the couple.
Adler Planetarium is well known for it’s panoramic city skyline view, and it’s one of the most popular photo locations in Chicago. But it’s a special few that get to hold their wedding ceremony on the planetarium’s patio. The weather can be a bit unpredictable on the peninsula so we were all thankful the winds weren’t too bad. The couple’s friend, Ryan (aka Bear) did a lovely job officiating and it was really a beautiful summer evening for a wedding!
Following the ceremony and outdoor cocktail hour, we headed back inside the main atrium for the reception. Allison and Bret entered through a tunnel of lightsabers from their wedding party. Before things got underway we had a little portrait time outside and had to make sure we got the lightsabers involved as well. Once back inside the night kicked off with toasts from Allison’s sisters and Best Man, Peter.
First dances started with the parent dances before a choreographed dance from Allison and Bret. After a little more open dancing, the party moved into the Grainger Sky Theater where I made a final portrait of Allison and Bret under the starry night projection on the domed ceiling.
Special thanks to fellow vendors Eric of DJ Firm and Diana Streit of Food for Thought!
It was such an honor documenting your day Allison & Bret – we loved working you and your families!
