Carolyn and Josh’s wedding was at one of Chicago’s newest venues – Chicago Winery.
I started the morning at Carolyn and Josh’s beautiful Jackson Park home on Chicago’s South Side where the ladies were getting ready. It was a mostly uneventful morning until a power outage hit the neighborhood. Thankfully Josh’s Dewalt tool collection allowed the hair & makeup team to continue doing their thing and even Kristy of Lola Events steamed the dress! Justin started just down the street with Josh at one of his groomsman’s home in the same neighborhood.
The couples’ home (specifically the gorgeous grand staircase) was a perfect first look location. I loved Carolyn’s reaction as Josh showed off the custom liner in his suit. From their we shot a few photos in front of the house and took the trolley north to downtown. After a quick stop at Adler Planetarium for that iconic postcard skyline view, we shot the rest of our wedding party photos on LaSalle Street near the Board of Trade of Building.
We arrived at the venue early enough for family group photos and even snuck away for some portraits with the two of them in the barrel room.
Mike did a terrific job officiating the ceremony. The skylight in the center of the room is definitely a unique feature. I loved the absolute joy from these two all day – but it was especially evident as they shared their vows. Immediately after the ceremony, the cocktail hour started off with a champagne fountain pouring on the outdoor patio.
The reception began with toasts from Carolyn’s sister and maid of honor, Allie and Josh’s best man, Joe. The band (Sway Chicago) kicked off the dance party with a first dance from Carolyn and Josh before the floor opened for everyone.
I loved getting the opportunity to spend time with Carolyn & Josh. It was a privileged to document both this wedding and their Kansas elopement this spring. Thanks again for trusting us with your special day(s) and perhaps I’ll get a chance to check out the rest of Josh’s DeWalt collection soon!
